It's October and the fishing should be on fire.
But danged if I see few to no reports here or elsewhere.
What gives?
Is it that bad, or is everyone just lockjawed like a Speck in crystal clear water?
I figured it'd be on fire, maybe with or after this cold front.
I've been confined since my shoulder surgery back in February, but now I'm aching to go fishing.
I went to Panama City Beach 2 weekends ago. Saw maybe 3 spanish caught.
Went to Navarre last weekend. Saw one ladyfish caught.
Went to the State Pier yesterday evening and caught several spanish and none were big enough to keep. They werent much bigger than the gotchas.
I was wondering the same thing. Where are the fish? Looked over Navarre Pier's September and October reports and it has been pathetic. Overall it has been a terrible year for kings from what I see and not a good spanish year either. Any theories?

No doubt shark numbers are way up and not just at the pier and not just blacktips. Dolphin and sharks have been trained to also follow boats eating almost every undersized fish you throw back as well as eating a good number on the line. If I knew how, I would attach the red snapper catch this year. It is atrocious. We fish in state waters up to 9 miles offshore and overall, the red snapper on public and private reefs is way, way down from just a couple years ago. I am encouraged though at all the tiny ones around the pier and other nearshore reefs. Hopefully they reach maturity.

Two weeks until my visit to Four Seasons Pier begins. Some of my friends are already there. I have heard of a few Spanish and flounder being caught. Seems like bull minnows are in short supply. I am hoping this cold snap brings in the good
size whiting. That is my number one target. I will begin posting when I get down on the fist of Nov.
