Absolutely does help! Sounds like the Fenwick should handle a 1 ounce weight, too. If I think I can fit the 9 1/2 in my car, I will go with that. Otherwise it's the 8 1/2. Thank you!

I have built a few rods in that length for trout fishing. I used the to throw live baits for trout, but I could also throw small alewives and small cigs for kings. The blank is 8ft long and is super light, but very durable
