This is what a human being can do to a hooked king! Folks, if you aint gonna eat 'em, cut your line and let them go back to the ocean for someone else. They shouldn't be used for cut-bait

This is what I was greeted with when I stopped to clean my fish at the north cleaning table.

After cleaning my fish, I spent less than five minutes to clean up the table.
Come on people, yo momma don’t work here, clean up your mess!

Double trouble!
With all the children, and feeble fishers like myself walking around in flip flops and even bare foot, please don’t leave your gaff lying on the deck to skewer someone’s foot.
Also if you deck a fish, put it in the cooler for your safety and everyone else’s.

I have seen that a few times, and took care of it.....at least the gaff is on it's side without the points sticking straight up in the air, like I have seen, and corrected my last trip....common sense goes a long way.....but not for ALL

Not sure how long it had been there, but it was there when I went to take their photo.
Got the pic for a “what not to do” example.

heck that gaff would hang nicely right there on the trash can wood....just saying....off the deck.... out of the way....points down...., especially on the side of it... :boohoo:
Nice job on cleaning...... the fish cleaning tables!!!!!!! :headbang:
Finn with all your pics that seem to be bringing up issues that need to be addresed, why not post these type pics on the wall at the peir house as a list what not to do on the peir for all people to see. Maybe Dawg can help with this.
When I left Saturday around 7pm, I was greeted with a BUCKET worth of trash  someone had graciously placed in the bed of my truck because it, apparently, looked like a large trash can :wall:
Lots of evidence it was another day of slaughtering Bull Reds! 6-6-2012
Kinda makes ya sick on two counts.
1 – Most of those fish were too big for good eaten and probably didn’t even make it to the kitchen. I bet some went overboard when some visiting folks discovered that the big bulls are hard to clean.
2 – Some people using this great facility don’t appreciate it. I would hate to see the pigpens they must live in.

Thats why its hard to find good fishing places even here in Ky. Nobody has respect for peoples property. You cant blame the property owners. They get sick of all the no good pigs too. >:(
Speak for yourself about bull reds not being good, we love them but we always clean the table and deck from the other pigs when where done using it. I have seen it bad but thats pathetic people should really clean their chit
I guess people don't think scales and belly strips are fish BAHAHA :violent I walked off tonight about to gag from the smell pewww weeee it would gag a maggot :puke:

Not everyone can afford a cart, but unfortunatley there really isn't any place to put their spare rods due to the fact that most of the spare space on the pier houses has seating around it. I wish we could get one of the rod holders like Pcola has. I think it would really help with some of the clutter around the seating areas.
I hear ya, but maybe they should try making one. i madeone that looked just like a 200$ cart and didntcost but 30$ just for metal and pvc pipes for holders(:
The hopeless clowns displayed in these pictures mostly could not OPERATE a cart, much less create one. :spank: Seriously I have been to other piers in the east where the written or unwritten rule is "keep your stuff out of the way of people walking", but that's not compatible with the fishing style down there where clear rail space is needed. There are also places where a "spread" of bottom rods is normal and people think having more than one rod out is their God-given right. GSSP pier is not one of those places! There are freshwater cleaning stations up here at Corps of Engineer lakes where the guts and scales are washed into a central trough with nice running water. It should take only seconds for even a tourist to realize that THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE. :horse:
Seriously, if someone could print and laminate the "before and after" photos above to post over table the with a few polite words of suggestion: "You've enjoyed the GSSP pier and you're lucky enough to have fish to clean. Please pass on that good experience to others by keeping this cleaning station clean." I have no gripe with the pier rules posted [that's how state governments talk], but they are heavy on negative tone. Sometimes people respond better to a more positive tone.
My "happy place" is an imaginary world where we could actually toss the jerks over the side.

Parking Lot No No!
6-24-2012 If your are going to do this, don’t lock your vehicle so you don’t have the added expense of replacing windows and or dock locks.
I noticed this in the car next to me as I as I got in mine. Definitely falls in the IDIOT Category!

You’re not from here are you? We were raised not to steal.
And I would appreciate it if you would stop talking about the good people who go to the pier on this forum. It’s a bad reflection on you not them. Don’t mean to cause trouble, but it’s getting old.

Why don’t all the physically fit fisherman show up in the middle of the night once in a while armed with water hoses & nozzles and just start washing away the mess along with the pigs that made the mess.
Also that would be a good time for the pier staff to break out the power washer and do the same!
Teamwork!
The mess the night pigs make is more than the staff can handle, IMHO

Ya know what split (and anybody else that will listen) ...I feel this business of what Fin has AGAIN brought to lite has gone on long enough and its time a line was drawn in the sand and that is EXACTLY what Fin is doing. He knows without me having to write it down here that I have his back on issues like this and there ain't no doubt in my mind he's got mine, along with a lot of other peolpe. I have been fishing the GSP (both old and new) for 40 + years. So...THAT MENTALITY IS EXACTLT WHY WE HAVE A PROBLEM!! IF ANYONE WHO FISHES THE GSP IS NOT RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO PICK UP A MESS THEY MADE AND THEN LEFT FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO CLEAN UP, THEN MAYBE THEY SHOULD BE FISHING SOMEWHERE ELSE. WE ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE DOING THAT. MAYBE THEN THE STAFF COULD KEEP UP WITH IT!!
My 2 cents worth

Who are you referring to? If you're referring to FinChaser, he's not downing the good ones on the pier...he is pointing out what NOT to do on the pier. And the last picture should be common sense to anyone, local or tourist...valuables should not be left in plain sight in a vehicle. I see at least $500 worth of stuff (probably more, depending on what is in the purse) just waiting on someone to break a window and take it, and be gone in less than 15 seconds...and no one will see or know a thing. Just because someone isn't raised here, doesn't mean that they are going to break into a car to steal an IPad and purse left sitting in plain sight. Likewise, there are plenty that were born and raised around here that would steal from their mother if they could get away with it!!! There are plenty of thieves, locals and tourists, just waiting for the chance to happen upon a car like the one in the picture.
And further, no one is talking about the good people who go to the pier on this forum. This whole thread is about the pigs, slobs, or anyone else who is too lazy/sorry to clean up their mess when they make one.
This thread is in support of proper pier etiquette and common sense tactics.
Sure, some may be casually "offended" if they are responsible for some of the misguided behaviors, but I assure you they'll think twice about making such mistakes on their following visits since it was brought to their attention.
:headbang:
I agree, people local, out of towners, whatever need to try to act like human beings, not animals. Pier, beach wherever. They should put some signs and fine these slobs if they can't pick up after themselves.

JC, I have closed car doors and shut tailgates on vans and suv’s many times when I arrive in the pier lot, and I hope somebody is looking out for me when I have a brain fart.
I’m not worried about what the good folks do, but I do worry about what might be done to them. There are people treating our playground like it is a garbage dump and it needs to stop.
Hopefully some of the guilty parties will see the visual evidence of their careless abuse of a great treasure we have here in Gulf Shores and become offended enough to quit trashing our pier. If enough people want me to take the thread down I will gladly do so.
OH, btw, my toes first hit the sand on west beach while I was still in diapers back in the 1940’s, how ‘bout you?
Sorry that you were offended by the thread.

from one of the Googans that live above I 10, Just want to say thanks to the locals for trying to help keep the pier a good place to fish and visit, we do appriciate it very much for what you do on here, and on the pier when we visit.

A very wise person once told me you can't fix stupid . Some people are just slobs we will do our best to keep the pier clean. Not to toot my own horn I can't tell you how much line I have picked up and thrown in a trash can
not all the visitors or tourists or whatever you want to call them(me) trash the area. i typically carry out more than i carry in. i completely agree and understand the outrage towards those that do trash the place.

Good point Stik, there is no intent to blame our visitors for the mess that some untidy folks leave behind. We appreciate our visitors and it is embarrassing when we hear someone comment on dead fish on the deck or trash all over the place.
Thanks Mike, the line left on the deck is dangerous, nothing compares to fighting a fish and getting hobbled by a wad of discarded line, especially if you are wearing flip flops and the line wraps around a toe or three.

good point stik,,it is also assinine to say that all regs clean up after themselves young and old.. the young need to be taught and the old have no training from the beginning.. i saw a responce that said to stop picking on the locals and another that insinuated that locals do not leave the messes..both were dumb a$$ statements,,i say this at the risk of being reprimanded for not being politicly correct or hurting somebodys feeling but this is a subject i have complained about since before the pier even opened.. this is the most passionate subject that has hit the boards even more than trolley fishing. i wished i lived there again so i could snap everytime i saw chit like this left behind,,and if you know me you know i will snap..remember if you are to scared to say anything then you r part of the problem not to mention a candy a$$ for standing up for what you believe in.. now before i get any pm's from admins for hurting peoples feelings because they don't know how to take me, just send an email and delete my profile..cause i don't give a damn if i hurt anybodys feelings or weather they know how to take me..
