Sabiki Storage

My son and I are preparing for our soon upcoming week on the pier. We are making modifications to our pier cart we built last year. It worked great but like most thing you build, after you build it you find something you would like to change.

One problem we encountered last year was the Sabiki Rig. He did well catching bait fish on it. Then came the transport back and forth from the condo.

What contraptions, methods or suggestions do you guys have for storing/transporting Sabiki rigs after they are out of the package?

Sabiki rod, as far as a cheap way you can leave enough line out that you can wrap just above the weight around the handle a few times and that will keep it close to the rod. Last thought would be throw away the Sabiki rig at the end of the day.

Another cheap solution is to basically to want divedeep said about wrapping it around the handle then buy a piece of pipe insulation and put it around the rod to transport it. That will keep the hooks at bay.

wrap the line just above the weight around the reel handle to keep the line tight and for travel and loading purpose put the rod in a piece of pvc pipe

I've always used a piece of PVC pipe cut to the length needed and just drop it in the pipe carried in a rod holder on my cart. No tangles or hooks catching on anything. Of course they're cheap enough to buy a new one each time you go out.

Never thought about that - that's a good idea.
That said though, cheap as they are and given the fact that they are usually mangled by the end of the day---chunk em and consider it the cost of bait. Just buy a dozen or so in case of breakoffs. Save the extras for next trip.

OR....buy a bait ribbon and don't worry about hooks

I have a sabiki rod now and wouldn't suggest getting one to just anybody. However, my method of handling sabikis on a regular rod, I would suggest to everyone. Learn to rig up two separate rigs out of one. A half sabiki is less than a quarter as difficult to handle than a whole one, while still being at least 90% as efficient at "making bait".

Sabikis fit perfectly in the trash can....

do not leave them on the deck for any reason... Have removed many from multiple people, including myself...
