This rack mounts on top of his truck but the locking principle should work on pier carts also.
And that crazy looking guy is not me!! Lol
very nice and safe.....they can't even raise it to get to your reels....that most of the time in the more valuable....nice job!!!!! :headbang:
I do see one weak link,,,,where the holders are bolted could be taken off(bolts) and dropped down far enough to get to your reels ....cordless drill could have that joint apart in no time....might want to get it at least tack welded good
That is some fine looking fabricating and welding. I am a bit concerned about how the tubes and the locking bar are designed in regards to how they interface with the rod's handle and the reel stem. Seems like there is just too much opportunity for the rod wiggle around and nothing to cushion or otherwise protect it from.
I've since added some rubber trim molding you can buy from autozone to install on your car doors around all the contact point with the reel foot. And padding on the back of the rack so when I run over a bump my rods will not slam against the aluminum. I'll post pic when this forum is capable of posting pic from phone
Oh and disclaimer, I did not build this rack. It was my idea and Joseph zielinski of Pensacola made it happen. I was there the whole time he's fabbing the rack so it'll turn out exactly the way I wanted it.
Glad to read that these pictures aren't of the final product and you have taken steps to protect the pretty on those high dollar rigs. Regardless it is a nice vision/design that you apparently were able to get across to the fabricator, who did a nice job for you.
Half of my gears are kinda beat up already as I do wade and use them as knuckle protector when I slip on jetties. And they do get toss around in my truck too, but I always try to avoid making more damage them.
