From Sunday 4pm NWS MOB Forecast Discussion:
Monday night Through Wednesday night/...Tropical
Depression Nine is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm byMonday evening over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico, and continue aslow moving track to the west-northwest. The tropical storm is thenforecast to turn to a northerly direction Tuesday afternoon, and thenpossibly to a northeasterly direction Wednesday afternoon. ByWednesday night the system is forecast to enter into the northeasternGulf of Mexico, but this track will likley be adjusted with issuanceof each advisory. Immediate impacts from the system across theforecast area will be an increase in rip currents along the areabeaches as longer period swells generated from the system reach the northern gulf coast as early as Monday night.

This track could easily shift west, all it would take would be a delay in the course change:

People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

With the projected scenario we (along the Alabama coast) should be on the 'dry' side of the storm and only receive larger than normal swells Wed-Thur.
How big remains to be seen, but is problematic to the track and strength.
Right now the forecast is only for 4 to 5 feet...
