Rod Question???

Penn actually makes a pretty decent one for a fair price. Check out the 8-9ft spinfisher rods. All are 2 piece. Seastriker, and daiwa also make some decent. Look at surf rods around the 12-20# class 7-9ft. Med-fast action.

Another alternative in that case, every KIA Sportage I can recall seeing has a luggage rack on it. Make a storage tube out of some thin wall PVC and mount it to the rack. You could also just wrap the rod with rags at any contact point and tie it off directly to the rack.

for the trip down in our explorer.... when we came in it....my rod tube was put on the rack for the travel.....up to 9ft,now....just added another hole for the seeker rod....now everything is inside the old van....maybe the last trip for it :boohoo:

We travel in a Camry and there is 3 of us, my daughter is still in a car seat but I have one of the rods you.talk about from J&M. I take.the reel off and slide the rod between the passenger seat and door fits perfectly you just have to be careful getting in and out on that side. I hope this helps.

Take a piece of scrap something such as 3/4''PVC pipe,start out with a piece around 8' and see if it fits.If not cut a couple inches off and keep cutting till it fits in the area you want it to be then have a rod built that length.As long as you can have room for a rod a little over 7' you will be happy unless its windy.My favorite rod is 7'4,my sons,7'1 and the old Fenwick Pacific stick(I think that's what it is)that #'r has been using the last 25 years is around 7'. If Ya know how to cast,a shorter rod will do you just fine.

john g i know you said that the custom rods you stock are 7'9" and i think i can handle that in my ride. so my question is if i decide thats what i want what would be a smarter decision should i call j&m and buy know or should i just wait till i come down in may to buy one. i know you have some left in stock i think you said 25 or so i just dont know how long they will last?

I love my 7ft something king rod.....I can't quite cast as far as some(might be because using 20lb test line too),but it serves me well and fits good in my hand....I am excited to fish with the one I got from Obie last spring..... after our return home....just wish it would take a little bigger reel foot....but too late now(finally got the 306 in it decent)....he said I can't break it on a fish(CUI blank)....we'll see

Do not order one,I put one in the back for you.If it fits great, but if not you can fish it for the time you are down and we will build you one that will.
