Thanks Fin for your effort ;we need to let them know about this problem;and with the competiton between Alabamas Gulf Coast and The Florida Panhandle for visitor to our pier and beachs. These municipalities and the CVB want our guests to feel as welcomed; as they can be,and this stupid regulation does not do that. I still need to have as many as can go to Montgmery let me know. I do not want to invite the media unless we are going to have at least 8 of us there, but right now there is not anywhere near that many. The meeting is one month away, Feb 4;lets show other sports fishing groups that we are as passionate and organized as they can.Lets give them hell and get this changed.GET THE GAFF!

Re: WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION !
Jim,
Do you happen to have the information for time and location of the meeting. I plan on attending as well as giving my point of view of the entire situation. I think nothing gets the point of fish guts going in the garbage better than a 55 gal drum full of rotting fish. Kind of drive the point home for the city officials not wanting that in their trash recepticles.

[size=12pt] Please understand that the The Fish Remains Disposal Issue is not something that is coming from the pier staff. The pier staff works hard to provide us with an enjoyable facility to satisfy our Pier Fishing Addiction! People complain about all kinds of things, but dont lift a finger to help.
Heres an opportunity to get involved.

Re: WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION !
I'm probably planning on going if it'll work out with schedules and what not. Going to work on a couple of letters and emails to send out this week too. Thanks for keeping on it Jim, my main concern is that there is NO solution to how we are to dispose of fish carcasses on the pier, as well as ambiguous laws regarding this as well. Hopefully we can get a little support and at least have our voice heard. Anyone want to carpool up there?

Re: WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION !
This issue has been introducted to Mayor Craft and Herb Malone at CVB.I have at so asked our neighbors to the east for some support. They have a little different audience and this effects anyone that is planning to use the pier or fish from the beach and the jetties at Al.Point.I was told that it will be brought up at meeting of the Mayor and a Depart.of Conservation person who was already going to be down here next week.I will be passing on to the Mayor Craft and the CVB, Herb Malone a summary of the changes in the law and the history of those changes as documented in the Onlooker News Paper.

Re: WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION !
YOU can be sure that I for one will be writting and emailing in an effort to let the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach know that they will most likely not have my business in the future it this proposal is passed.
I encourage all forum members to do the same .
Thanks to all the concerned locals that keep the rest of informed .

Re: WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION !
Thanks for your support on this matter. This is not a proposal;it is found in The Code of Alabama, Title 9, Chapter 220-3-.04 paragraphs #7,8,and 11.We are trying to get it changed; because of the current targeted intent of this law is at those of us who fish in the Gulf of Mexico;without a boat. The original intent and purpose of the regulation was because of shrimp boat by-catch was washing up on the beachs of Gulf Shores; to make things worse it happened over the 4th of July 1983.But the Depart.did not do their home work before they reworked the codes, and now the way it has been morphed from the original intent has created this problem. The enforcement people are activly enforcing and writting people up;so it is not like they at going to over look it and not enforce it.Under paragraph #7,which spells out "state-owned or operated piers";there is only one in the Gulf of Mexico..

Come November, there's some really fun and productive fishing in store for the pier fisherman. One of my favorites is the whiting a hard-pulling, great eating fish and when the schools are in, you...
